Looking for an alternative to Tracki?

August 7, 2026

If you have been comparing Tracki against the options for protecting a car, it helps to be clear about what Tracki is built for. For some jobs it is a genuinely smart buy. Stopping a car thief and getting a stolen vehicle back is a different job, and that is the one worth thinking through before you decide.

What Tracki is, and what it is good at

Tracki is a small 4G GPS tracker, usually a magnetic or portable battery unit you can drop into a bag, a glovebox or under a seat. The hardware is cheap, roughly 15 to 30 dollars, with a subscription on top at about 10 to 20 dollars a month, and less again if you prepay for a few years up front. It is one of the best-selling trackers on Amazon, a number one bestseller with tens of thousands of reviews behind it.

There is a reason it sells. It is affordable, flexible and easy to move between things you want to keep an eye on, whether that is a caravan, a piece of equipment, a package or a car during a long trip. For keeping a dot on the map of an asset, it does the job and people clearly rate it.

Where it falls short for stopping vehicle theft

The trouble starts when the asset is a car and the threat is a determined thief. Tracki is a self-contained magnetic unit, which means a thief who suspects a tracker can find it and throw it out. There is nothing hardwired and hidden into the vehicle to fall back on once the visible unit is gone.

It is also locate-only and self-monitored. No one is watching it for you. The alerts land on your phone, and it is on you to notice, work out whether it is a real theft and then start chasing the car yourself, at whatever hour it happens. There is no immobilization, so nothing on the device can stop the vehicle being driven away, and there are no driver-recognition tags, so it cannot tell the difference between you and someone who has cloned your key. Its strong reputation is also concentrated almost entirely on Amazon reviews rather than years of recovery work with police.

None of that is a criticism of Tracki for what it is. It is a fair tool for tracking something you could, at a push, afford to lose. A car you rely on is not that.

Why ScorpionTrack is built for the harder job

ScorpionTrack starts from a different place: getting your vehicle back, and ideally stopping the theft before it happens.

We contact you. Our 24/7 Secure Operating Center watches for the theft signal, and if your car moves when it should not, our team calls you to check it is not just you before coordinating recovery with law enforcement. That is the opposite of a self-monitored app where the noticing and the chasing are your problem.

Our hardware is professionally hidden and hardwired into the vehicle during a proper fit, so it is far harder to find or remove than a magnetic box a thief can locate and toss. ScorpionTrack Secure and Elite add two Automatic Driver Recognition tags, so a car moving without an approved driver, exactly what happens in relay and keyless theft, triggers an instant alert.

And ScorpionTrack Elite goes further with automatic and remote immobilization, so the engine will not start without a valid tag present and a live theft can be stopped remotely. Prevention beats recovery, and this is where that shows.
