The honest limitation for stolen-vehicle protection
The gap shows up in how recovery actually starts. RecovR is owner-initiated. If your vehicle is taken, the process is that you call 911 and then switch on Theft Recovery Mode in the app yourself. Nothing happens until you notice the car is gone and reach for your phone. If it is stolen overnight, that could be hours, and the first hours are when a stolen car moves fastest and furthest.
There is no immobilization, so RecovR cannot stop the car being driven away, only help locate it afterwards. There are no driver-recognition tags, so a relay or keyless theft, where the thief drives off with a cloned signal, does not raise any special alarm. And the headline many buyers remember is the payout: RecovR markets a figure of around 5,000 dollars if the car is not recovered within 30 days.
