RV GPS tracker: protect your motorhome or camper on and off the road

July 12, 2026

An RV is a house on wheels, and it often costs as much as one. It also spends most of the year parked. Between trips it sits in a storage lot, a driveway, or a field, unattended for weeks or months at a time. That is exactly when it is most exposed. Thieves target storage sites precisely because nobody is watching, and a motorhome towed or driven off a lot can be gone for days before the owner even knows. The answer is a tracker that watches the RV when you cannot and a team that acts the moment it moves.

Why RVs get stolen from storage

Storage lots are quiet, often poorly lit, and checked infrequently. A thief can work on a rig in the middle of the night with no one around. Motorhomes get driven off. Travel trailers and fifth wheels get hitched and towed. Either way, the vehicle is worth tens of thousands of dollars, and the contents, appliances, and fixtures add even more.

Because the RV may sit for months, you might not visit for weeks. Without a tracker, the first sign of a theft is an empty parking spot and a very bad day. With one, you know within minutes.

Stored off power? A battery tracker is the right call

Most RVs are not connected to permanent power in storage, and you do not want a device draining the leisure battery over a long layup. That makes a self-powered unit the sensible choice. Scorpion Go runs up to three years on its own internal battery, is IP68 weatherproof, and needs no wiring. Arm it from the app when you park the RV for the season, and it alerts if the vehicle moves when it should not. No power draw, no dead battery when you come back in spring.

Driven regularly? Consider hardwired

If you live in your RV or use it year-round with the engine and electrical system in regular use, a hardwired unit gives you live tracking and full journey history. ScorpionTrack Standard is the hardwired baseline with monitored recovery, and Secure adds Automatic Driver Recognition tags for extra protection against theft of a motorized rig. Every ScorpionTrack tier is insurance approved.

We contact you, you do not have to check

This is the difference that counts for a vehicle you rarely visit. A cheap tracker sends an alert to your phone and leaves the rest to you. If your RV is in a lot two hours away and it moves at 2am, a self-monitored app does nothing until you happen to look.

ScorpionTrack is monitored 24/7 from our Secure Operating Center. If your RV moves when it should not, we contact you to confirm it is genuine, then coordinate recovery with law enforcement. You do not have to spot it, and you certainly do not have to be watching a storage lot you visit twice a year.

An RV that is tracked and acted on quickly gets recovered. One that relies on you noticing does not. Because motorhomes are large and slow to move, a fast response gives recovery a real chance while the vehicle is still close.
