The most stolen cars in America right now

July 14, 2026

If your car shows up on a most-stolen list, it is not because it is a bad car. It usually means it is popular, easy to move on, or has a known weakness thieves have learned to exploit. Worth knowing where your vehicle sits, because the fix is the same whether you drive a work truck or a commuter sedan.

What ends up at the top of the list

Pull the data from the NICB (National Insurance Crime Bureau) over recent years and a few patterns hold steady.

Full-size pickups are perennial targets. Ford F-Series and Chevrolet Silverado trucks are stolen in huge numbers, partly because there are so many of them on the road, and partly because parts and whole vehicles hold their value. A stolen truck is a liquid asset.

Older Hondas keep their place too. The Honda Accord and Honda Civic have been near the top for years, especially earlier model years. They are common, their parts fit a wide range of cars, and demand for those parts never really drops.

Then there is the Hyundai and Kia surge. A viral TikTok trend exposed that certain models built without an engine immobilizer could be started with little more than a USB cable. Thefts of those cars jumped sharply, and while manufacturer software fixes have helped, the models became a lasting target once the method spread.

Why your specific car matters less than you think

It is easy to read a list, see your make is not on it, and relax. That is the trap. Theft is opportunistic. A thief working a parking lot or a residential street at night is not checking a leaderboard. They are looking for the car they can take fastest with the least risk.

The vehicles that top the charts are simply the ones where speed and low risk line up most often. If your car has keyless entry, it can be taken by a relay attack regardless of badge. If it has a catalytic converter worth cutting out, it is a target for that alone. The list tells you where theft is concentrated, not where it stops.

The protection is the same regardless of what you drive

Here is the part that matters. Whether you own a top-of-the-list F-150 or something that never appears, the way you protect it does not change.

A tracker earns its place by doing two things a steering lock cannot.

First, it is monitored. Our Secure Operating Center watches your vehicle around the clock. If it moves when it should not, our team contacts you to check it is not just you before coordinating recovery. You do not have to notice the car is gone, file a report, and then hope. We come to you.

Second, and this is the real shift, the top tier stops the theft rather than just following it. ScorpionTrack Elite adds automatic and remote immobilization, so the engine will not start without a valid driver tag present, and a theft in progress can be stopped remotely. Prevention beats recovery every time. A car that never leaves the driveway is worth more than a car you get back with damage.

Matching protection to your vehicle

If your car is a common target, or if it is a pickup that is worth serious money, the case for immobilization is strong. Every tier is insurance approved. See them together on the products page. British engineered, protecting vehicles since 1973.
